POT MAGNETS

Pot magnets have a steel cup for the purpose of directing the magnetic poles to the same surface. This increases the magnetic hold significantly compared with a raw magnet.
In the steel cup there is either a ceramic or a metallic magnet. The difference between these is mainly in temperature tolerance; ceramic ferrite magnets tolerate ca. 200 °C, ceramic NdFeB magnets 80 °C and metallic magnets ca. 500 °C. The ceramic magnets are less expensive.
Pot magnets usually have some sort of fastening device, a hole or a knob by which they can be fastened onto something. This is what pot magnets are mainly used for. Pot magnets attached with hooks can also be used for hanging things and decorating. A pot magnet with a handle is easy to fasten and unfasten.
